Over 2,000 programs and adding every day.
Food stamps (aka SNAP benefits) can come in handy if you have trouble feeding your family due to low income, losing your job, or other unfortunate circumstances. By getting monthly funds via SNAP, you can go to a grocery store, pick up essentials like meat, milk, fruits, veggies, etc., and swipe your EBT card to pay for your purchase.
While being able to buy food with an EBT card is helpful, you now have another avenue that can help you even more: Using EBT to pay for grocery deliveries to your door. Let’s take a look at which stores are now accepting EBT for deliveries so you can start ordering food from the comfort of your couch without worrying about how you’ll pay for it.
Use EBT For Grocery Delivery Through These Stores
While this list can change at any time, here are stores that are currently accepting EBT for grocery delivery:
- ALDI
- Amazon
- Food Lion
- FoodMaxx
- Hannaford
- Lucky Supermarkets
- Market 32
- Market Bistro
- Piggly Wiggly
- Price Chopper
- Publix
- Save Mart
- Walmart
That list represents 13 places where you can shop using your EBT card to get groceries delivered to your door. Now let’s break down the details of how you can start ordering.
Instacart
The vast majority of those stores have partnered with Instacart to accept EBT for grocery deliveries. So, if you want to shop online from the following, you’ll need to do so via Instacart: ALDI, Food Lion, FoodMaxx, Hannaford, Lucky Supermarkets, Market 32, Market Bistro, Piggly Wiggly, Price Chopper, Publix, Save Mart.
How it works is simple. After creating an Instacart account, simply add your EBT card as a payment method. When shopping via one of the stores, such as ALDI, for example, be sure to put SNAP-eligible items in your cart. This includes essentials such as meat, produce, dairy, etc., and excludes luxuries like cigarettes and alcohol. Once your items are selected, check out by selecting your EBT card as the payment method. Then, you can have those groceries delivered without having to leave your home.
It’s important to note that EBT will not cover any delivery fees. That holds true for Instacart and other delivery services, so you’ll have to pay any fees and tips with another method besides your EBT card. You can avoid those fees on your first three EBT orders over $35 if you act now since Instacart is offering that incentive to attract new customers.
Amazon
As long as you don’t live in Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, or Louisiana, you can now shop for “SNAP EBT eligible” items and pay with your EBT or P-EBT card. The online giant will then ship those items to your door.
Walmart
You can use your EBT card for grocery delivery via Walmart in all states except Louisiana, Maine, Montana, Arkansas, and Alaska. In those states, you can still shop online with your EBT card and pick up your purchases at the store.
