Prices Are Increasing. Buy These 8 Things While You Can

While the price of everything seems to be increasing, particular items could soon be hard to find or downright pricy. Buy the items on this list while you can find them and before they expand outside of your budget.

Various supply chain issues have led to product shortages and price increases. Whether due to production problems, labor shortages, a lack of truck drivers, climate change, etc., it looks as if supply chain shortages are here to stay. While you can’t do anything to stop those shortages, you can prepare for what’s to come.

Here are products that look to be hit by supply chain issues and skyrocketing prices. If you see them in stores, grab an extra item or two (without panic buying), so your household does not go without.

1. Alcohol

Is alcohol a necessity? No, but some may consider it one with the holidays coming up, so instead of waiting until Thanksgiving or Christmas to buy your alcohol, do it now. Why? Because items packaged in aluminum or glass are under threat of shortages and price increases, and that includes beer and liquor.

2. Peaches

If you love making pies, fruit salad, or other things with peaches, buy what you can now and freeze them. The South experienced a spring freeze that hurt this year’s peach crop, which is why they may be hard to find in some grocery stores.

3. Candy

Candy is another food item that is not essential, but with Halloween approaching or an insatiable sweet tooth, you may think otherwise. The war in Ukraine and cacao shortages threaten the candy supply, and Hershey announced that there could be issues come Halloween. Buy whatever candy you need now before the October rush commences.

4. Tires

The war in Ukraine, climate change, and the pandemic have all contributed to low rubber production, which is expected to lead to a tire shortage soon. If you need snow tires for the winter or your treads are running low, buy your tires now.

5. Christmas Trees

It looks like this year’s Christmas tree supply will be short due to drought. Since shopping for fresh trees could be tough, you may want to buy an artificial tree before demand goes up, supplies dwindle, and prices increase.

6. Wheat, Flour, Cereal, Etc.

The world’s wheat supply looks to be in significant trouble due to the war in Ukraine. If your family uses a lot of wheat products or items made with grain, stock up now. While we take items like cereal, flour, and bread for granted, they could soon become scarce, so prepare yourself accordingly.

7. Bottled Water

The UK is experiencing supply issues with bottled water. That means the United States is not far behind. The next time you’re at the grocery store, buy a few extra bottles to have on hand.

8. Canned Items

Aluminum shortages have made once inexpensive canned goods costlier. Before they get even more expensive, buy some to stock your cupboard. At the very least, they’ll last years and can be used during an emergency.
