Would you like to financially help someone in need, but don’t have the savings to do so yourself? A fundraiser is an excellent method to raise cash for a good cause, and here are several ways to do it.

1. Crowdfunding

If you want to make the biggest financial impact in the least amount of time, crowdfunding is tough to beat. Why? Because it takes less planning and it’s done online, which lets you harness the power of the Internet to raise cash way beyond your city limits.

Perhaps the most popular crowdfunding platform is GoFundMe. All it takes to start a GoFundMe fundraiser is to give your name and location, write your story, then share the campaign’s link with everyone you know. Thanks to social media, you can spread a campaign’s awareness in minutes and easily get a significant sum of cash for your cause.

Examples of GoFundMe campaigns that are often used include paying for funeral expenses or long-term medical treatments, helping people rebuild their lives after a natural disaster, etc.

2. Yard Sale

Spread the word about your cause with friends and family plus social media connections, and you could raise cash via a yard sale. Ask everyone to donate items they don’t need so you have plenty of stuff to sell. Then use the proceeds of the yard sale to help your cause.

You can advertise the yard sale on social media and sites like Craigslist to attract customers. To attract even more people, mention that the yard sale is to help someone in need.

3. Bake Sale

Did a coworker or someone from your church or local religious organization lose a family member or experience a tragedy? One good way to raise money and bring the community together is with a bake sale.

Gather group members to bake items and donate them for the sale. Then hold the event at your workplace during lunch, outside of the church, etc., to get cash.

4. Food Trucks

A great way to raise quick cash for a person who needs it is to contact food truck owners. Why? Because they get tons of daily customers with cash who enjoy supporting local businesses and the community.

Ask the food truck owners if they could set up a small display for your cause to receive donations. Even better, ask them to come to your neighborhood, workplace, etc., to raise funds while also making sales of their own.

5. Restaurants

Local restaurants may be willing to help the local community to boost their reputation. Reach out to local restaurant owners about your cause and ask if they could have a fundraising night in its honor. Some may say yes, giving a percentage of their sales to the fundraiser.

6. Amazon Wish List

Do you know someone starting from scratch since losing their home to a fire or other tragedy?

Or are they low on cash and need food and supplies for their children? If so, you could set up an Amazon Wish List and share the link on social media so people can purchase items to be donated directly to your cause.
